Participation in New Student Orientation is important to your successful entry into Parsons and The New School. These sessions provide you with the opportunity to learn about your program, gain access to a variety of campus resources, and build community with your new classmates and future colleagues. To begin, please register using the RSVP button on the Student Orientation Hub. Next, review the schedule below for information about important Orientation sessions, workshops, and social events. All new students are expected to attend Orientation, and some sessions are especially mandatory to stay on-track with your academic program. Orientation at The New School is an exciting time! Throughout the week, our incoming graduate and undergraduate students will be welcomed with helpful sessions, interactive workshops, campus tours, and social activities to prepare you for your first semester at The New School.
You'll attend programs and sessions designed to orient you to your specific college and major, as well as general sessions open to all new New Schoolers.
Yes–all incoming students will be charged an Orientation fee, which covers the cost of in-person and virtual Orientation sessions, activities, and resources, your Prep for Success Online Orientation course, and other support offered to incoming students through the start of the first six weeks of the semester.
The Orientation fee cannot be refunded, even if you do not take advantage of Orientation offerings as expected. For more information please visit our Tuition and Fees webpage.
At The New School, the COVID-19 vaccine is now strongly recommended but not required. Students are advised to upload their COVID vaccine information to the SHS portal along with their other vaccine records.
Regardless of prior COVID vaccine history, the current CDC recommendation is that all individuals age six and older receive one bivalent Moderna or Pfizer vaccine to be considered up to date. If you have received a bivalent dose, you are up to date at this time. For more information, please visit our COVID community guide. Students who require medical attention should schedule a telehealth appointment with Student Health Services. For any COVID-related questions, please email shs@newschool.edu.
Student Health Services will be offering a Fall Immunization Clinic during New Student Orientation. Students can schedule an appointment August 21-25 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM to receive the MMR vaccine for free. Scheduling is now available on the SHS portal or by phone at 212.229.1671. If students require additional vaccines, call 212.229.1671. or email shs@newschool.edu for a referral to an outside vaccine clinic.
